You may or may not know, that Dr Edward Flagg is leaving the Academic Advisors team of Te Puna Ako and Unitec at the end of this week. Ed was the original creator and starting force behind the Teaching and Learning Community. He is leaving to return to his family and home in Colorado, USA.

This is Ed's very first blog posting on the T and L Community.

He went on from this modest beginning to post 73 blog posts, numerous resources, events and managed to join many of our online groups. His most read blog post was this one.....Active Learning in Large Classes.  I know that Ed has mentored, coached and supported many of you in his four years here at Unitec, and he has generously shared his wisdom, knowledge and time.

We will miss Ed' s regular contribution to our community, and I do hope he stays in contact and continues to be an active member.

We wish Ed, and his family, Amy and Keenan the very best for their future in the USA and hope Ed takes advantage of everything he has learnt as part of this community.

I am hoping that you will share your good wishes and good memories of you time with Ed here at the Teaching and Learning Community. It will be a fitting farewell for our founder.

Dear all,

Thank you for your kind words below and the privilege of working with you for the last four years.

There are many good and great memories I take with me as I journey onward.

The honour has been mine.

My very best to you all,

E te Rangatira

Tenei he mihi aroha kia koe mo tou manaaki, mo tou hoatanga, mo tou korero, whakarongo, aroha.

Arara ko Tane Ruanuku, Koia!

My dearest Ed, who will mentor me to write, to think, to be all that i can be as a teacher, as a scholar as a friend. I am the richer for the gift of knowing you. Even though this is a great loss for the Unitec Whanau, i am thrilled that you and your darling whanau are looking forward to returning to your homelands, I wish you all the very best.

My finest memory was of a weekend spent as Maori COPS at Taumarunui listening to the powerful delivery of our beloved Dr Rangimarie Rose Pere and many hours spent afterwards unpacking and delving in to our 'positions' as lecturers and the histories we carry. But many many fond moments. I LOVED the 'take what you need' flier, i took 'hope' .

Thank you thank you thank you for every thing.

Go well

Arohanui Na Yo
